Man what a joy it has been having the music enthused positive powers of Snr CheeseOnToast warming up the airwaves prior to Stinky Grooves, it's like a breath of fresh air and I can't help thinking it's reflected in my three hours of relentless renkification. Lots to tell this week but really it's best done in the way of vids, pictures and embedded embers.

So to begin with you may have noticed a whole heap of Tourettes tracks over the last week or two. Reason being the next Round Trip Mars release is Tiger Belly by aforementioned potty mouther. It's a blinder and it shall be heralded with a few vids, viral? you say... positively inspiral say I, never mind the carpets ...here's the first...

And if you're feeling that then you should head on over to the Tourettes bandcamp and you can pick up that excellent track for a squiddling piddling amount, it's a better investment than any or yer stocks & shares pal...

Meanwhile we never know when to say stop, actually we never do..so videos for CD-only bonus tracks from albums a a couple of years old, yes we got them..that's us. Reject Pain was one of 5 tunes only obtainable on the CD versh of James Duncan's 'Hello-Fi' (begone digital duckers they aint yours) and now it's been immortalised, possibly even immoralized, on digi-film by Joe Fish. James is always a busy bwoy and he's just dropped the Punches album Etheria featuring him and Kelley Sherrod making beautiful and sometimes slightly sinister music together, on Arch Hill. Go hither and buy several, check their new vid too, it's good.

Once again I'm flinging up the white flag and confessing that I'm plum tuckered and most definitely not up to even a semi-decent bit of postology. It's a shame because tonight's was another ripper, which frankly is a bit against the odds on a week when sleep has been relegated down the priority list, we've chucked a storming debut from She's So Rad out on the label and I've had to resign my booty to civic duty with a spot of jury service.
So the essential facts of the week are .....
SHE'S SO RAD release shindig for the excellent IN CIRCLES album (get it now.... seriously...or then) at WHAMMY on FRIDAY 5th with support from THE VIETNAM WAR, Dictaphone Blues & Roundboy 80. It's only a tenner, that's like generosity on a stick..see you there.

Also take note The Vietnam War will be playing down at the Tank Farm at the bottom of town at 1pm on Saturday. They've been on fire of late, 4 piece/5 piece...it makes no odds, they ripped the Kings Arms up (again) with a very different crowd on Sunday...notice is served and all that..its free!!!

I don't know about yous out there but for me up here, this felt like a 24 carat proper oper Stinky Grooves of vintage proportions tonight. Was lovely to follow on from the good vibes of Mr Tidball and there was just something in the air, something in the playlist and more besides.
Don't feel me burbling on about it is even necessary, and undoubtedly it was a marked difference from last week when I was basically descending into flu hell on-air but that felt like a Stinky Grooves should.
Of course there was some help from on high in the form of RTM debutantes Tourettes (how about that Inside My Head song?! fair took my brain out in the best possible way) The Vietnam War (playing this Sunday at the KA, poster at bottom of post) and the just about to bust out She's So Rad.
I'm probably going to have an extended ramble about this album and the gig that's coming up at Whammy (week on Friday, the 5th with The Vietnam War, Dictaphone Blues and Roundboy 80) so lets keep it short, have a listen to the stream below (you'll be able to buy it on Monday, maybe even a little earlier on bandcamp) swoon at the sumptuous cover (Dylan Pharazyn on the case, ace) and gird your loins for August 1st.

However between that and the lack of any internet up at the good ship bfm tonight I'm somewhat behind and done in so we'll keep it brief.
Next week I'm delighted to annouce that Mnsr Cheese On Toast Andrew Tidball will be taking the reins pre-Stinky Grooves. In short that means Tuesday night's are returned to a keen focus on quality music and any sort of frippery, foolishness and C list celebrity shenanigans are off the menu. Hoo and fucking ray to or hooray if you prefer to do it clean.
Tonight a track from the mysterious and moody Hype Williams. Apparently this was lined up for one of their releases on Hyperdub but they lost the track, that sounds eminently believable to me. Check this interview with 'em at Quietus, apparently it's their last. Apologies for last week, I can usually muster a few inane words, the odd insult or some meaningless blather but by the time I'd got back to palatial Stinky Mansions after the show I was fully done in. It was a good done in though since the main focus of late has been on The Vietnam War's album (and the next nextest from Round Trip Mars - She's So Rad) and that has been received exceptionally well.... as it should be. The release hooha at the Kings Arms on Thursday was an absolute scorcher, a delightful and frankly laaaaaaarge crowd who got to see a fireball of a live set from TVW... it was a bit special.
In all fairness things aren't that much quieter this week and thats how it's going to be through till October at least, so there may be a couple more unadorned playlists, but I hope not.
This week it's back to the Minx where all roads lead to Aromatherapy on Thursday night from 8.30 till around 11.30, Toby aka Mooch is on the warm-up these days so if you fancy a right proper reggaematical bath beforehand he's your man. Also look out for his night with Dubhead this Saturday, won't be able to be there myself but I'm sure it will be righteous.

But wait there's more..no really. On Saturday night I shall be spinning tunes with this fine selection of spinnery geezers (see below) at the Khuja Lounge. It has been a veritable age since I wafted my sounds around that locale, and apparently I shall be doing so at the relatively sober hour of 11 till 12. A mere fiver for a cornucopia of DJ talent (and me), at that price you'd be an ass not to come along....
Failing that there's always the old Aromatherapy on Thursday night. Last weeks soundsystem mis-haps beforehand, resulted in a couple of stonking great speakers to play through ... and in all honesty I wasn't complaining. Neither were the punters and it was past 12 before I could get out... all in all top notch. Who knows what the haps will be this week (hopefully not mis) but they've all been goodun's of late and it would be beyond delightful to see you there.

The term DJ legend is bandied about far too much, in fact the moment I hear it the old bullshit detector (you know the one, it's back in the garage) starts up something fierce. This geezer deserves the term and plenty more. I particularly enjoyed it around 2 minutes in when he identifies one of the worst crimes against DJing in a very succinct and direct manner, there's some quality instrument tackle pon display too.
The filmitito is in celebration of Harvey's just released Locosollus album which I took receipt of today and can hugely, even highly, recommend. To give you an idea of the quality it has three remixes amongst its ten tracks, now usually that's a sure sign of space filling and slackness... but when you can call upon Andrew Weatherall, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas and Emperor Machine (who dispense a 20 minute excellentine epic) - well .. different story. You can guarantee there'll be a tune or three from it on next week's Stinky Grooves but if you want to avoid the pre-amble... then the album is available from Juno right here digitally or on CD. Amongst the albums of the year in my humble, and that's not said lightly...
