Balmy business
This week, I have yanked out a remix of a geezer who is playing here on Thursday. Due to my hermit like xmas existence, and what seems like some pretty low key promotion, I didn't find out about that till today, but I fully intent to attend.
I wasn't initially sold on Flying Lotus, I tend to react that way when there's too much hoopla and hype and that was certainly the case early on, a year or two ago, when people were proclaiming him as the 2nd coming. However I'm increasingly impressed by his work and he seems to have owned a style (or even template) that is being aped by many, yet his tracks always make their presence felt. I say all this despite him standing me up for a phone interview last year. His mix of Martyn's already monstrous 'Natural Selection' has been a real favourite of late, but I no have that in the chic format required. Instead here's Japanese master of 8 bit grit and Hyperdub artiste, Quarta 330 weebling the bejesus out, for EP3 of 'Los Angleles' remixerations.
