Sincerest apologies for the lack of show this week. Caught a well poky bit of food poisoning and wasnt able to do much apart from groan and cry like a little girl... no one needs to be subjected to that!
However after a ghost like day of recuperation I'm as close to match fitness as I'm ever likely to be, and will be musically misconducting proceedings at the Ginger Minx tonight as per norm from 8.30.

Another late start but fortunately enough time to jampack a veritable treasure trove of goodness into the SG cannon this week. Going to leave you with a tune from jock femme-C Soom T this week as her album alongside digital revivalist Disrupt has some gorgeous moments. The weed focus that runs through most every single tune, the album title (Ode 2 A Carrot ...... Camberwell, one presumes?!) and everything else ..does run out of wheels eventually, but there's a charm throughout that counters any red-eyed overload.
Particularly love this spoken track 'Wee Rant' and so it's up for a week, low qual and please please please support the excellent folk at Jahtari by flinging your pounds, shillings and pence (dollars too maybe) at them.
May well be sliding a Soom T tune in somewhere at what looks like a legendary dance on Saturday at Rakinos...One Foundation. Huuuuuuuuge line-up, should be socrcherating and then some, our man Willi The Kid who has put the whole fandangle together (and props to him for that) reckons I'll be playing around 2ish, maybe a bit earlier.... cannae wait, got some fire in store! One of those shows where it was a struggle to keep on any sort of a track through the musical undergrowth, with so many delightful divergences all vying for a bit of airwave love. After having a romp through the Rhythm Selection in Dubhead's absence (playlist below btw) I was fairly sated on the reggae regular tip but there was soooooo much more.

Tonight a quick little taster from Zombie Zombie (cheers KH!), who have done quite possibly the most obvious thing they could have, in covering 5 of John Carpenter's film themes. This is a shoo in, and then some, for me - big fan of the French duo who make a delightful racket with drums, synths and malodorous intent and also a huge fan of John Carpenter's soundtracks.... what could be better?? Not much! Slap a cover from La Boca on there and you've just about made my year.

This week I think something is required to shake off the lethargic weather/time of year/general vibe that Ak goes into when everyone fucks orf to the beach/bach etc

So let us direct our sights on Sweden and that man Joelito from Emayo Cutz and other good things, who has got amongst it in the past with cuts like the massive Juego De Shabba and Lamento En El Norte ... and more.

Apparently this cut is from a forthcoming vinyl EP and you can be sure we'll be giving it the hollering from the rooftops treatment here. In general I have to say that as much as I dig the energy, yoof and vibe of the 3bal/Moombahton malarkey coming out of Monterrey and most everywhere else, musically it generally isn't really floating my boat. This track however nails it on all levels, proper bad boy business..
